If you have used the internet in the last 15 years then there is a good chance that you’ve bought, searched or browsed on software that I’ve helped to build.

I’ve worked on official government websites in the UK, helped run Shopify’s checkout, scaled a unicorn and everything in between. I’ve created startups that have failed, I’ve created startups that have been successful and I’ve built interesting things both big and small.

Some of the systems I’ve been involved in serve vast numbers of users a day, others process billions of dollars a year. At times I've hired and trained rookie teams and I've also worked alongside some of the most elite programmers on the planet.

My passion is to build; sometimes my tool is code, sometimes it’s teams and sometimes it’s systems. Problems at different scales and stages require different solutions. The common denominator is people. There is no problem too small and no problem too large.

Tyingshoelaces.com is where I talk about the interesting things that I’m up to, the latest projects I’m working on and everything in between. You'll find a mix of technical and non-technical content here, I'm unashamedly human and I'm not afraid to share my thoughts and opinions.

I'm currently working on Systemprompt.io which is an API for prompt management, tailored for the valid use (and reuse) of structured data in automation workflows.
